S&S CYLINDER HEADS FOR SHOVELHEAD

S&S cylinder heads are top of the range. They are the part you need to make your Shovelhead roar again. While original heads use studs to connect rocker box supports, S&S heads use 5/16"-18 hex-head bolts. Rocker box cover bolts are included with each S&S Shovel head kit. Furthermore, S&S heads accept all original-style components. The inlet and outlet ports are in the original location and are the same size as original. Original inlet manifolds and exhaust pipes install easily without requiring any modification. S&S Shovel-style inlet ports feature a directional turbine to swirl the incoming fuel and air mixture around the valve guide and stem for improved performance. At 1.940", the inlet valves are the same diameter as original, but the exhaust valve diameter (1.720") has been reduced by .030" to improve valve-to-valve clearance at TDC and enhance flow. The hemispherical combustion chamber, like the original, is compatible with standard Shovelhead-style pistons. S&S Shovel-style valvetrain components are specifically selected for durability under adverse conditions. They are compatible with current unleaded fuels. The valve springs can handle a total lift of .590" and are available with upper steel or titanium retainers. The heads are machined to accept cams with a TDC lift of 210" on both valves. Because S&S Shovel heads retain original dimensions, they are ready for installation with original applications without issues with standard Shovel chassis and exhausts. Complete kits include all necessary gaskets for installation except inlet manifold gaskets. S&S Shovel heads are sold in front and rear sets. The heads are fully assembled with premium components. Installed parts include valve seats, guides, gaskets, valves, valve springs, retainers and locks. The kit also includes rocker box cover gaskets, head gaskets, head and base gaskets, miscellaneous mounting hardware and instructions. Available for 1966-1978 models for use with O-ring style ports, or for 1979-1984 models for use with rubber band style ports.
