MALLORY UNILITE BREAKERLESS IGNITION

The Mallory Unilite Breakerless conversion kit is designed to convert ignition points to a fully electronic system on Big Twin and Sportster. The module assembly containing the Unilite has no moving parts to wear out. The module completely replaces the original points and condenser. It consists of an integrated photo coupler, a signal processor and a power switch. Each time the shutter wheel blocks the infrared light from reaching the photo coupler, the electronic circuit energises the ignition coil. When the shutter wheel allows the infrared light to reach the photo coupler, the electronic circuit allows the energy stored in the ignition coil to discharge. The Mallory Unilite Breakerless conversion kit can run any ignition coil or combination of ignition coils with a total primary resistance of at least 2.0 Ohm. We recommend ignition coils of 2-3 ohm for racing applications and ignition coils of 3-4 Ohm for road and motorway use. Converting to Unilite breakerless ignition is as easy as a three-wire connection. It replaces the ignition point on Big Twin 1970-1978 and Sportster 1971-1978. It can also be used as a replacement for the OEM electronic ignition on Big Twin from 1978 and Sportster 1978-1997.
