Increase performance at an affordable price by reusing many of the original components. The bolt-in cams require no cylinder head modifications. When using chain-driven cams from 1999 to 2006 for lifts of more than 0.510", S&S strongly recommends that the original chain drive be upgraded to the S&S gear drive, the latest S&S forged cam plate and oil pump kit ZPN760604, or the hybrid plate ZPN756295 (OEM 25284-11). This kit upgrades the problematic spring chain tensioners to reliable hydraulic tensioners and also upgrades the oil pump.
The Easy Start Cams easily start any engine regardless of displacement or compression ratio, using your original starter motor. As a result, the starter and battery are spared. They work automatically, there are no buttons to push. The two exhaust cam lobes are equipped with a spring-loaded compression release lobe on the "heel" of the cam at the point where the valve would normally be fully closed. The lobe holds the exhaust valve slightly open at cranking speed. This releases some of the compression, making the engine much easier to turn over. Once the engine starts and RPM increase, the compression release lobe retracts centrifugally and the engine runs normally, with full compression and no loss of performance. The Easy Start cams have been tested for 100,000 cumulative openings and over 150,000 road miles with no breakage or failure of the compression release.
S&S chain-driven camshaft kits contain the front and rear cams, gear cover gasket, bearings, retaining ring, O-ring seal, thread lock and instructions.
Notes: Early 1999 models may require the separate purchase of splined cam sprocket ZPN 700835. Valve springs on Twin Cam models from 1999 to 2004 can accommodate cams with valve lift of up to 0.515". Original valve springs on Twin Cam 2005-2017 can accommodate valve lift of up to .590". The OES, 505C and 557 cam grinds can be installed with original pushrods. However, we recommend S&S Quickee adjustable pushrods ZPN752108 for easier installation of all S&S cams.
475 grind: Original Equipment Specification (OES) A replacement camshaft fitted with the original cam timing, designed for riders with original engines. No tuning required. Fitted in the original location. Equivalent to OEM A-Grind.
509 grind: Designed as a high-torque bolt-on cam for models from 1999 to 2006. 180PSI compression start, no need for compression releases. For 88CID engines with standard compression ratio. From idle to 4,500rpm. Bolt-on torque.
510 grind:Designed as a bolt-on for 88, 95 and 96CID engines with compression ratios below 9.7:1, original cylinder heads and original valve springs or performance valve springs with less than 160lb. seat pressure. 3000-5500 rpm. Bolt-on.
551 grind: Designed for engines with 96 to 106CID and a compression ratio of 9:1 to 9.9:1, this is a bolt-on cam kit designed for original or slightly modified touring motorcycles. Not recommended for compression ratios of 10:1 or higher. Greatly improves low and mid-range torque, stronger from idle to 4000rpm. Bolt-on torque.
557 grind: Designed for Tri Glide models 2009-2016, this bolt-on cam, with its short duration, produces a large amount of usable engine torque. It has the original base circle, allowing the use of original pushrods. Bolt-on.
570 grind:Designed for 88 to 103CID engines with compression ratios of 9:1 and 10:1, this cam provides a nice power increase across the entire power band. 3200-5700 rpm. Excellent throttle response for full power on 103". Throttle response.
583 grind: Optimised for use on Softail and Dyna models, this bolt-on cam allows you to feel the engine's power and torque effort throughout the rev range, delivering more power when you need it: 1500-5000rpm. Bolt-on.
585 grind: Designed for 88 to 106CI engines with compression ratios of 9.7:1 to 10.5:1 and 106 to 124CI engines with compression ratios of 9:1 to 10:1. This bolt-on cam provides huge power and torque increases from 3,000 rpm and remains constant up to the red line. 3500-6000rpm for 88"-103" engines and 2500 to 5500rpm for larger engines.
625 grind:Cam set designed for engines of 95" or larger with compression ratios between 10.0 and 10.75:1. 3000-6000 rpm.
640 grind: Used in T124 S&S engines, this cam creates horsepower! Designed for 95CID or larger engines with compression ratios between 10.5:1 and 11.5:1. 3000-6000 rpm.
MR103 grind: Designed as a bolt-on for original 103CI engines from 2012 onwards, with a compression ratio of 9.7:1 up to 10.5:1. They work well with stock heads, but are ideal for ported heads. More power across the entire rev range and better results from 2500-5500 rpm. Bolt-on.
HP103 grind: Designed as a bolt-in cam for 2012 and later 103CI engines with a compression ratio of 9.7:1 up to 10.5:1. Works well with stock heads, but is ideal for ported heads. Perfect for lightweight bikes and racing applications where getting the most horsepower from a stock engine is essential. Best power in the higher rev range, 3000-6000 rpm. Bolt-in.
635HO grind: High lift cam for modified engines with displacement of 106" or greater and compression ratio between 10.0:1 and 11.0:1. Works well with stock heads, but ported heads are recommended. Best power is between 3000-6000 rpm. This is not a bolt-on cam set. Check clearance and high lift springs required.Specifications
