SPORTAIL SPORTSTER CHASSIS WITH 250 TYRES BY ZODIAC - 11.5"

We have developed a chassis for the Sportster, sharing the same design as our Softail Wide Tail chassis. To achieve this look, we have increased the steering head angle to 38 degrees. Consequently, bars 4 to 8 inches longer are required, depending on the wheel and tyre size. The engine mounts to the chassis without any offset, and the swingarm accommodates extra-wide wheels. The Sportail SuperAss is suitable for wheels up to 250mm. It operates with a belt drive. The SuperAss requires an offset front pulley or a spacer behind it. The pulley cover also needs to be offset. The chassis length necessitates a 135-tooth belt. Mounting points for a Big Twin-style centre stand and Big Twin forward controls, as well as Sportster-style controls from 1974 onwards, are fitted. It accepts original narrow forks, along with many other aftermarket options, including our exquisite Ceriani forks and numerous other custom forks. The chassis is compatible with any Sportster Ironhead engine from 1974 to 1985, and Sportster Evolution engines from 1986 to 2003 (5-speed models). As the final drive is located on the right-hand side, the original Softail Big Twin oil tank will not fit; our special SporTail oil tank must be used, or any custom round oil tank can be fitted. The chassis is designed to accept Softail-style accessories, such as Flat Side tanks, forward controls, seats, and shock absorbers from Softail models 1989-1999. However, due to the completely different swingarm design, a rigid-frame-style brake caliper must be fitted.Softail 1989-1999 shock absorbers are in another section of this catalogue. 
 Note: Zodiac SporTail frames are approved as replacement frames for Harley-Davidson Sportsters. They can be used in combination with approved GCB forks and/or any other approved component.
