S&S Camshaft for Milwaukee Eight

S&S engineers spent countless hours on the dyno and on the road to produce what they believe is the ideal lift and duration combination. The result is a new range of high-performance S&S cam kits, delivering not only excellent horsepower and torque figures, but, more importantly, performance gains across the typical RPM range, allowing real-world riders to fully utilise S&S’s extra performance. For example, S&S claims gains of 21hp and 21 ft-lb of torque with the 465 cams, coupled with improved intake and exhaust performance. The cams are compatible with all original components; however, to save on labour costs for removing and refitting the original pushrods, it is advisable to cut and replace them with a set of S&S Quickee pushrods for Milwaukee Eight engines. This is also an ideal opportunity to upgrade the plastic cam followers to Stern aluminium followers, as these capture the lifters without affecting vertical movement and keep them perfectly aligned, even under high-stress and high-RPM conditions. The gear-driven cam kits include all necessary parts to convert them into a reliable cam unit with improved valve timing accuracy. Due to machining variations in the original cam plate, oversize or undersize gears may be required to achieve the correct gear belt fit.
