.040" MLS (multi-layer steel). Water and oil cooled heads must be plugged. No reliefs in the heads for water or oil cooling ports, only for the cylinder and oil drain. Therefore, the heads must be plugged or welded in all cases.
MLS (multi-layer steel) explanation: MLS consists of a top and bottom layer of embossed stainless steel, both faces coated with a rubber polymer layer resistant to 250°C. The inner ring is also made of stainless steel. The gasket layers are riveted together, outside the gasket surface, for easier installation. The outer layers are embossed and both faces coated with a rubber polymer layer resistant to 250°C. MLS cylinder head gaskets eliminate the use of alignment pins or O-rings.
