What is torque plate honing and why does it matter?
Torque plates are plates that simulate the tension the cylinder head and sump exert on the cylinder when the engine is assembled. Grinding or honing a Harley cylinder without torque plates leaves the diameter out of roundness once the cylinder head is tightened, causing oil consumption, loss of compression and premature wear. At Antuña Kustom we grind using torque plates specific to each Harley engine family — the correct method, which very few workshops in Spain apply.
What is included in an engine rebuild?
- Complete strip-down, cleaning and measurement of all components.
- Cylinder honing with torque plates and piston honing to the chosen piston.
- Crankshaft, con-rods and bearings overhaul or rebuild.
- Cylinder heads: seats, guides, valves and surfacing.
- Assembly with new gaskets, torque settings and clearance verification.
- Big bore kits and capacity increases if you are looking for more performance.
As a specialist shop, we also stock pistons, liners, gaskets and components from brands such as S&S, Cometic or James, with no import delays.
Collection and delivery of your motorcycle to your home
We offer home collection and delivery of motorcycles in Murcia, Alicante, Cartagena, Elche, Orihuela and throughout the Levante, with date and time to be agreed. If you cannot come to the workshop, we collect your bike, carry out the work and return it ready. Please check availability when booking your appointment.
