The Feuling CNC machined aluminium dipsticks vent/depressurise excess crankcase pressure from the oil tank via a PCV-type ventilation system, which includes an oil separator, a perforated disc, a replaceable filter element and a butterfly valve. The Feuling vented dipsticks screw into the factory oil filler neck as a stock replacement part. These dipsticks eliminate unwanted combustion gas (blow-by) pressure build-up in the oil tank.

Combustion gases are the pressure that leaks past the rings and cylinders, enters the crankcase and is then forced into the oil tank. FEULING rods help eliminate this unwanted pressure through a Crankcase Venting System (CVS). Test results show a decrease in crankcase oil levels, an engine that spins more freely and smoothly, an increase in fuel performance (MPG) and a reduction in combustion gases.

NOTE: All internal combustion engines have a certain amount of combustion gases. Larger displacement engines, as well as those with worn or loose ring clearances, will have an increase in combustion gases. Engines pushed to their limits will also produce excessive combustion gas build-up that "robs power".

We include 2 venting styles (Options) to choose from when installing the dipstick:

OPTION 1.) 1/8 NPT threaded breather fitting with internal porous filter element. This option offers a clean look, but may cause oil mist/residue on the element on engines with excessive blow-by/combustion gases.

OPTION 2.) Quick-connect fitting with rubber hose and filter element. This option directs excess oil mist/residue through the line and into the filter element. However, this option requires disconnecting the fitting to check the oil. This is Feuling's preferred option, as it vents better than option 1.

For option 2, we recommend routing the line up the frame rail, below the seat/fuel tank area, and then down along the right-hand frame rail. The filter element can be neatly placed between the engine/transmission junction area on the inside of the lower right rail.

Note: This dipstick gets hot; use a glove when checking the oil level.

Oil level check:
There are two ways to read the oil level with this dipstick: with the bike on the side stand (FHS) or with the bike upright and level (FHU).

FHS = FULL HOT STAND (Full level when hot on the stand). If you read the dipstick with the bike on the side stand, take the reading from the notches labelled FHS (Full Hot Stand).

FHU = FULL HOT UPRIGHT. When reading the dipstick with the bike upright and level, take the reading from the notches labelled FHU (Full Hot Upright).

OIL LEVEL - DO NOT OVERFILL THE TANK LEVEL It is important to obtain the correct hot oil level on your bike. Feuling recommends keeping the oil level between 90% and 99% of capacity when hot.

Note: Leaving the motorbike idling or warming it up on the side stand can naturally fill the engine case and alter the oil level in the tank.
We recommend the following steps to achieve the correct oil level:
1. Check the oil level when cold.
2. Ride the motorcycle until it reaches operating temperature.
3. Switch off the motorbike whilst it is still in an upright position (this ensures an accurate reading).
4. Once the motorcycle is on its side stand, check the oil level.
5. Add or remove oil as necessary.

Note: Feuling's in-house testing shows that venting the air filter to atmosphere can be problematic, resulting in oil carry over/mist at the breathers. When air filter venting is combined with the use of oil tank venting, such as the Feuling vented dipstick or a vented transmission top cover, oil carry over/mist can increase.
