3 to 4 speed conversion kit for 45" Flathead

Allows the original 3-speed transmission of the 45" to be converted into a 4-speed. Gears 1, 2 and 3 are shorter, and 4th gear retains the OEM ratio to reach optimal engine torque (RPM) at different speeds. Compatible with 45" (750cc) 3-speed Side Valve models. 41-46 shift pattern. Can be used on later models when converting to foot shift or when adapting the tank shift pattern to 41-46 style.
Note: The original transmission side cover (kickstart cover) must be machined to accept the larger first (low) gear. Optionally, the special 4-speed transmission side cover, reference 971591, is available separately.
