The 944 series is a further development of the now obsolete 940 series and uses Frequency Sensing Technology (FST) instead of the technology used by the 940 series, IAS Inertia Active Sensing technology. Frequency Sensing Technology allows the shocks to detect the frequency of a bump and automatically adjust damping for a superior ride quality. The 944 Ultra Touring shocks use the full suspension travel provided by the 13" (33 cm) long unit, but provide 1" (2.5 cm) of lowered height. The unique Ultra Touring spring combination not only offers a lowered height while you are on the bike, but also when the bike is stationary with nobody on it.
