It helps enormously, when trying to maximise airflow through a filter, to have a large filtering area. But building a huge filter was not viable; it had to be small and highly effective. This is where the Arlen Ness designers started. Adding the inner surface of the air cleaner to the outer one adds a huge amount of filtering area. With the radius-integrated air inlet, this air cleaner showed some of the highest flow numbers Ness has ever tested. The final look gives the 65° air cleaners a very small, custom, attractive intake manifold appearance that effectively draws air in from all sides. The filter elements are made from synthetic material. They resist water; a rain sock is generally not required. The filters are reusable; simply rinse them out and refit. No oiling necessary.
Note: The breather design is o-ring sealed in the cylinder heads, passes through the backing plate and sits inside the mouth of the throttle body. This eliminates external breather hoses so nothing detracts from the clean look.
