BDL, 2" Shorty Drive open belt drive kit. Polished

The perfect set-up for minimalists. The new Shorty starter housing is a typical design where form meets function; it is not technically possible to have a smaller electric or kick starter with less volume. The BDL Shorty Drive belt drive kit includes a rear pulley plate with starter housing, rear pulley with BDL ball-locking clutch, starter sprocket cover, rear pulley cover, front pulley and belt.
This 2" electric start belt drive kit is designed for 1970-1978 Shovelhead models with 4-speed ratchet top gearboxes, rear chain only. Modifications are required to fit this kit. Among others: when fitting to FX models, the oil tank mount must be cut away to allow proper mounting of the starter motor. On FL models, this modification is not required. On both FL and FX models, an L79-86 clutch arm (MCS 516400, OEM 37054-79A) must be used. Some grinding work is required on this arm.
Note: A 1989-1993 model starter motor can be used, provided it has the original dimensions.
