S&S cams for Evolution Big Twin

S&S states that its camshafts and other related valve train parts undergo extensive testing on the dyno, on the track and on the street. Once they are satisfied with the proven performance, they carefully select and combine various components to make the best kit combinations. Because many S&S camshafts are high lift, they are available as a cam only or in a kit with a set of the appropriate S&S high-performance valve springs.  Important information on S&S Evolution style cams for Shovelhead engines
 Complete S&S Shovelhead engines are equipped with special pushrod guides designed for use with S&S Evolution style lifters. This requires an Evolution style cam in these engines, or in any engine fitted with S&S Shovelhead style pushrod guides. When choosing a cam for this type of engine, bear in mind that the timing specifications will remain unchanged, but that the total valve lift will be reduced by around 9% of the specified value, due to the difference in rocker arm ratios between Shovelhead and Evolution style engines.
