.040" MLS (Multi-Layer Steel). For water- and oil-cooled motorcycles. The special design allows the gasket to fit in the cylinder recess... even keeping the oil cooling passage open on oil-cooled heads. With this gasket, the enlarged 4.250" cylinder size is a direct bolt-on application for both water- and oil-cooled M8 models.
Explanation of MLS (Multi-Layer Steel): MLS consists of a top and bottom layer of stamped stainless steel, with both faces coated with a 250°C high-temperature resistant polymer rubber layer. The inner ring(s) are also made of stainless steel. The gasket layers are riveted together, outside the gasket surface, for ease of installation. The outer layers are stamped and both faces coated with a 250°C resistant polymer rubber layer. MLS cylinder head gaskets eliminate the need to use alignment dowels or O-rings.
