Dual coil for 2 spark plugs per coil. Dual ignition coil, sold in pairs so it can be used in single ignition applications on twin-plug heads (4 spark plugs in total). Sold in pairs. Primary resistance of 0.5 ohms, designed for Twin Cam ignition systems that are designed to be used with low-resistance Twin Cam-style coils. 40,000 volt output. One of the smallest coils available. Ideal for customs where coils must remain hidden. Overall dimensions 4.2" x 2.3" x 1.6" (10.7cm x 5.8cm x 4.1cm). Mounting hole distance 2.9" min. to 3.5" max. (7.3cm to 8.8cm).
Note: It is recommended to use ignition modules and coils from the same manufacturer. Mixing different brands can cause premature failure.
Note: The standard Twin Cam ignition is a single-fire ignition system.
Note: Difference between Single and Dual Ignition:
- Dual ignition - This is how earlier, pre-Twin Cam engines operate. A single coil is used and both spark plugs fire simultaneously. This is the simplest system. The 'wasted' spark is sometimes said to reduce power.
- Single Fire - This is how stock 00-up Twin Cam engines work. Two separate coils fire the spark plugs independently and only the spark plug of the cylinder on the compression stroke is fired. These engines are said to vibrate less and may improve power. The effects become more noticeable with more aggressive camshafts and higher RPMs.
