Used to quieten the engine and reduce wear by decreasing rocker axial play relative to the cylinder head. Feuling recommends 0.0035" to 0.0045" for optimal rocker oil pressure fit and noise reduction. M8 cylinder heads also exhibit excessive wear on the rocker bracket thrust surfaces; by placing the hardened washer on the thrust side, it helps reduce wear and further damage to the cylinder head. Benefits stock engines and is highly recommended for engines with high-lift camshafts or higher pressure valve springs.
Note: The washers must be fitted by a professional, capable of taking the correct end-play measurements and of fitting and tightening the rocker arm shaft nuts/bolts without damaging the washers.
