Feuling recommends assembling the camshaft support plate, oil pump, camshaft, etc., on the bench, aligning the flat faces of the oil pump gear with those of the crankshaft and installing the complete assembly into the camshaft crankcase as a single unit. This procedure has been shown to provide the best sealing at the rear suction port of the oil pump relative to the engine crankcase, as the parts are always fed towards the suction port.
Twin Cam: Rotate the flat faces of the crankshaft until horizontal and align the flat faces of the oil pump pinion in horizontal position to match.
M8: Rotate the flat faces of the crankshaft until vertical and align the flat faces of the oil pump sprocket in a vertical position to match.Specifications
