These forks are available as a complete kit, including machined solid aluminium stanchions, steering stem, front axle with nut and washer. These robust-looking 43mm forks are a direct replacement for the 35mm and 39mm forks. They feature integrated caliper mounts for 1984–1999 style calipers; see our brakes section for Performance Machine, Harrison Billet and GMA calipers. The kits are designed for use with the original Harley front wheel and brake disc. When using the original narrow mudguard, appropriate spacers are essential. The original handlebar mounting rubbers and headlight bracket are used; a special bracket is included for those wishing to install a custom-style headlight. Fitting one of these forks will improve the overall handling of your motorcycle, particularly the damping. A key feature of these non-adjustable damping forks is the ability to adjust spring preload via air pressure. The total weight of these forks is 7 lbs (3 kg) less than the standard 35mm fork. Standard length is 31" (78.7 cm), travel 5.5" (14 cm), axle 3/4" (19 mm). The distance between stanchion centres on the narrow forks is 7.68" (195 mm), and on the Wide-Glide 9.85" (250 mm). When fitted to pre-1984 four-speed frames or 1984 onwards Softail frames, a steering bearing support with integrated stop is essential. The handlebar mounting rubbers and bushes must be cut to function correctly.
 
 Oil change: Use SAE 10 or SAE 20 oil (ZPN 235204), 350 cc for a standard leg, 450 cc for an extended leg.
