With viscosity-controlled bypass, which regulates a valve with oil temperature control effects similar to those of a thermostat.
An offset design is required when fitting an oil cooler on any Twin Cam TCA (Dyna, Touring) or TCB (Softail) model. It is optional for cooler installation on all fuel-injected Evo Big Twins with engine-mounted spin-on oil filters, making access to the oil lines easier. The adapter allows the oil to flow through the filter before entering the cooler, resulting in less restriction.
After filtration, the oil will automatically bypass the oil cooler while the engine warms up to standard operating temperature. Once the motorbike reaches operating temperature, the viscosity-regulated bypass fully closes the bypass port and sends 100% of the hot, filtered oil to the oil cooler, delivering cooler, cleaner oil to the engine.
Oil flow direction from the adapter: oil feeds the oil cooler from the fitting on the left side and returns to the fitting on the right side, as seen from the front with the oil filter adapter fittings at the bottom.
