The Jims Powerglide™ lifters offer superior hydraulic operation compared to OEM-style equipment, with a forged steel body, a hand-honed hydraulic cavity and an oil-fed axle. For maximum power, zero valve lash and elimination of hydraulic lifter collapse, as occurs in the OEM lifter, also known as 'shock absorber syndrome', are required. Failure to keep the valve open throughout its travel results in power loss. The Jims Powerglide™ lifters come as close as possible to a solid lifter, yet can still compensate for thermal expansion. They also work well with solid-style cams. They fit as a direct upgrade for OEM lifter 18526-89.
