JIMS, pinion shaft. 56-64 B.T.

Compatible with OEM flywheels. The pinion shaft has a keyway; use key 23985-56 (MCS 517960). The taper is 8-1/2°. The shaft measures 3.51" in length from the bearing shoulder to the end of the small thread. Use JIMS nut 24023-36 (MCS 978258) on the flywheel side and nut 24003-55 (MCS 518000) on the pinion side.
JIMS shafts are precision machined in Camarillo, California, from special-order steel. Each piece is thoroughly inspected and, after heat treatment, all threads undergo a special process to withstand greater torsional stress. All shafts are ground to a 16-micron finish or better, unless otherwise stated. All ground diameters are concentric within a tolerance well inside .0003", which speeds up centring and reconditioning with less effort.
Note: Not compatible with electric start Panhead models with aluminium primary case.
