JIMS, pinion shaft. 65-69 B.T.

The pinion shaft has one spline, use wrench 23985-56 (MCS 517960). The taper is 8-1/2°. The shaft is 3.75" long from the bearing shoulder to the end of the small thread. Use JIMS nut 24023-36 (MCS 978258) on the flywheel side and nut 24003-55 (MCS 518000) on the pinion side.
JIMS arbors are precision machined in Camarillo, California, from special-order steel. Each piece is thoroughly inspected and, after heat treatment, all threads go through a special process to withstand greater torsional stress. All arbors are ground to a finish of 16 microns or better unless otherwise specified. All ground diameters are concentric within .0003", which speeds up centring and rebuilding with less effort.
