The early style starter relay OEM 31506-79B is found on most HD 1980-1992. The late style starter relay OEM 31504-91A is in fact the same, but has a built-in diode and was introduced in 1991 on Touring and Police FXRP, and was used on Big Twin 1992-2008 and Sportster 1992-2004. The early style is available as a stock replacement relay which is a like-for-like equivalent of the original part, as well as an improved updated version, the skirted version, which is truly weather-resistant with a skirt protecting the connector block. The late style relays can also be used to replace the early style ones.
