S&S, HP103 camshaft kit with Easy Start gear drive (IG)

.575" valve lift. IG = camshaft with inner gears.
For stock 103" engines with stock compression ratio of 9.7:1 up to 10.5:1. Works well with unported heads and is ideal for ported S&S CNC heads. Best power in the higher RPM range. 3000-6000 RPM.
Easy Start camshafts make starting easier by reducing the build-up of compression pressure in the cylinders during starting. This is achieved by slightly lifting the exhaust valve off its seat, via a spring-loaded compression release lobe inside the camshaft. After start-up, the compression release lobe retracts by centrifugal force. The only difference is during starting, as you can now effortlessly electric-start your Big Inch engine without the need for large batteries and/or starter motors. A stock starter motor and battery are sufficient. When the engine is running, the camshafts perform as normal cams, with no loss of power, torque or anything else.
Note: Not compatible with 79cc S&S heads.
Note: The installation kits required for Easy Start camshafts are included only in the complete kits. They are available separately from S&S for this kit as 503566. Compatible with gear-driven models only.
Note: There is no direct fit Easy Start camshaft for these 99-06 Twin Cam models. All will require and/or may require clearancing and high-lift valve springs.
Note: Not compatible with kick-start models.
Note: Camshafts manufactured before January 2010 will require adjustable pushrods.
Note: Below 900 RPM a clicking sound may be heard. Adjust the idle speed to 1000-1100 RPM.
