S&S, Easy Start M103 (IOG) cam gear kit

.585" valve lift. IOG = gear-driven cams with internal and external drive gears. Complete kit with installation hardware, bearings and gasket.
Direct fit for stock 103" engines with a stock compression ratio of 9.7:1 up to 10.5:1. Works well with unported heads and is excellent for S&S CNC ported heads. More power across the entire RPM range. 2500-5500 RPM.
Easy Start cams make starting easier by reducing the build-up of compression pressure in the cylinders during starting. This is achieved by slightly lifting the exhaust valve off its seat, by means of a spring-loaded compression release lobe inside the camshaft. After starting, the compression release lobe retracts by centrifugal force. The only difference is during starting, as you can now effortlessly electric-start your Big Inch engine, without the need for large batteries and/or starter motors. A stock starter motor and battery are sufficient. When the engine is running, the camshafts operate as normal cams, with no loss of power, torque or anything else.
Note: The installation kit required for Easy Start cams is included only in complete (IOG) kits. The installation kit for this kit is available separately as 531268 and is compatible only with gear-drive models.
Note: Only the 551, 570, 583, 585, HP103 and MR103 series cams are direct fit; all others may/ will require clearancing and require high lift valve springs.
Note: Not compatible with kick-start models.
Note: Only camshafts manufactured before January 2010 will require adjustable pushrods.
Note: Below 900 RPM a clicking sound may be heard. Adjust the idle speed to 1000-1100 RPM.
