Coarse gear. The Spyke 1.4 KW starter motors deliver 200% more torque than the original starter motors with a standard battery, for 65-88 Big Twin models. This is due to the special gear reduction system used. High-torque starter motors have the disadvantage that they require special batteries to actually deliver the power they are capable of. The short overall length, clean look and various finishes make this starter motor optically very attractive. Proven, tested and demonstrated quality automotive industry internal components are used. The special gear reduction design also allows this starter motor to turn over most high-compression Big-Inch engines without the need for a special (large) battery.
