.040" MLS (Multi-Layer-Steel). The cylinder head coolant ports must be plugged. No relief in the heads for water or oil coolant ports, only for bore and oil drain. Therefore, the heads must be plugged or welded in all cases.
Explanation of MLS (Multi-Layer-Steel): MLS consists of a top and bottom layer of embossed stainless steel, both faces coated with a 250°C-resistant polymer rubber layer. The inner ring is also stainless steel. The gasket layers are riveted together, outside the gasket surface, for easy installation. The outer layers are embossed and both faces are coated with a 250°C-resistant polymer rubber layer. MLS cylinder head gaskets eliminate the need for alignment pins or O-rings.
