Note: Also compatible with H-D 36-64, but when replacing 3-brush generators, use the H-D oil deflector #31035-58 (MCS 555773) and discard the old spring and deflector. Check clearance on models with a foot clutch. The overall length (OAL) of 926746 is 7.58" (193 mm) from the gasket surface to the fins.

Technical tip: Generator polarisation.
With the engine off, connect the 'F' terminal to earth and give a brief positive pulse to terminal 'A'. Remove the earth from terminal 'F'. If you have correctly installed a functional regulator, it will activate and earth terminal 'F', in which case you will not need to use an external earth.
Caution: Do not flash the 'F' terminal. This will damage the regulator.
Do not connect the battery to the field (terminal F), as this will polarise the generator in reverse.
Generators in general do not forget their polarisation, so it is not necessary to polarise a Cycle Electric Inc. generator unless it has been connected to the battery in reverse or has been incorrectly polarised after leaving the factory. Only after a long period of time can generators struggle to reach charge, so polarisation may be a good idea.
