5-speed right side drive conversion kits by Zodiac

The unlimited growth in rear tyre width has pushed custom motorcycle builders to the limits of primary drive clearance on existing frames. A 55mm clearance is truly the maximum possible. To maintain balance on a bike fitted with a 330 tyre, it is best to leave the primary drive in its original position and move the transmission to the right-hand side. Until now, this required a new right-hand side gearbox, representing a significant expense. When Zodiac began designing a kit to fit a 330 tyre to an original Twin Cam frame, it also sought a more accessible solution, developing two options: the LD (Right-hand side) conversion kit, which uses many original components, and the LD builder kit. The conversion kit includes only the parts necessary to convert your original gearbox from 1994 onwards to a right-hand side configuration. It comprises a new main shaft, a countershaft with integrated 5th gear for increased strength, a change drum, forks, and a new cover accommodating the main sprocket. The kit is completed with all necessary mounting materials, new seals and gaskets, resulting in "The most economical right-hand side conversion kit". As we are aware that not everyone wishes to rebuild their gearbox, we also offer a complete, ready-to-install kit, the "Gearbox Builder Kit". These kits feature "Low Noise" sprockets (post-1994 style) pre-installed on the shafts and cover. Conversion kits are available for tyres up to 330 and can be used with original and replacement gearboxes for Evolution Softail, Evolution Dyna, Evolution FLH/FLT, Twin Cam Softail, Twin Cam Dyna, and Twin Cam FLH/FLT models. All kits are supplied complete with a special pulley. Both conversion and builder kits utilise a special clutch actuator cover, available separately, as options exist for hydraulic or cable-operated clutches. The cable system works with the original cable, while the hydraulic system requires an 11/16" master cylinder. Original-style and custom master cylinders are available in the handlebar controls section.
