Note: See 926825 (78-81 XL) or 926826 (82-E84 XL) for the XL Sportster electronic regulator connector. Allows the original wiring to be retained on XL models.

Note: Also fits H-D 36-84 when converting to 12 Volt. When replacing the 65B generator (Hitachi 82-E84), add H-D oil deflector #31035-58 (MCS 555773). The same gear can be re-used.
Note: See 926745 for the special Low Power version, designed to help prevent overcharging on models with hot batteries (i.e. battery mounted in the horseshoe-style oil tank).
Technical tip: Generator polarisation.
With the engine off, ground the 'F' terminal and momentarily touch the 'A' terminal with positive. Remove the ground from the 'F' terminal. If you have correctly installed a functioning regulator, it will activate and ground the 'F' terminal, in which case no external ground is needed.
Caution: Do not touch the 'F' terminal. This will damage the regulator.
Do not connect the battery to the field (terminal F), as this will polarise the generator in reverse.
Generators in general do not forget their polarisation, so it is not necessary to polarise a Cycle Electric Inc. generator unless it has been connected to a battery the wrong way round or has been inadvertently polarised in reverse after leaving the factory. Only after a long period of time may generators have difficulty charging, and polarisation may be a good idea.
