Starter motor for BMW

Affordable starter motors are built with longer-life bearings than OEM.

Many OEM starter motors feature an unprotected needle bearing on the outside of the drive shaft seal; moisture can enter the electric motor's output cover and travel along the armature shaft to the needle bearing, causing corrosion.

Rick goes further by installing a double-sealed ball bearing, with the drive shaft seal positioned on the outside of the bearing in his new aftermarket replacement unit.

This simple yet logical engineering solution serves two purposes: first, the outer bearing is now protected against damaging water ingress, and second, the sealed ball bearing can be replaced.

For models with 9 teeth only – does not fit 8-tooth starter gear models.
