The S&S crankcase breather valve, patent pending, really helps solve oil loss problems on Twin Cams. The breather consists of a machined billet aluminium body with four steel Reed valves. The valve slides over the pinion shaft and inside the pinion inner diameter, between the retaining ring and the oil pump. The reed valves allow oil and vapour to escape from the crankcase and not return. These breather valves are not available for "B" Twin Cam engines as fitted to the Softail.
