.585" valve lift. IG = Gear-driven camshaft with internal gears only.
Direct fit for 88" to 106" with 9.7:1 to 10.5:1 compression ratio and for 106" to 124" with 9:1 to 10:1 compression ratio. RPM range of 3500-6000 for 88" to 103" engines and 2500-5500 for larger displacement engines.
Easy Start Camshafts make starting easier by reducing the build-up of compression pressure in the cylinders during starting. This is achieved by slightly lifting the exhaust valve off its seat by means of a spring-loaded compression release lobe within the camshaft. After starting, the compression release lobe retracts by centrifugal force. The only difference is during starting, as you will now be able to start your Big Inch engine electrically with ease, without the need for large batteries and/or starter motors. A standard starter motor and battery are sufficient. When the engine is running, the camshafts operate as normal cams, with no loss of power, torque or any other parameter.
Note: The installation kit required for the Easy Start camshafts is included only in the complete kits (IOG). The installation kit for this kit is available separately as 531268 and is compatible only with gear drive models.
Note: Only the 551, 570, 583, 585, HP103 and MR103 series camshafts are direct fit; the others may require clearancing and require high-lift valve springs.
Note: Not compatible with kick-start models.
Note: Only camshafts manufactured before January 2010 will require adjustable pushrods.
Note: Below 900 RPM a clicking sound may be heard. Adjust the idle speed to 1000-1100 RPM.
