This is a special low output version offering a reduced charging voltage.
Designed for models with batteries in the tank (horseshoe shape). Hot batteries have an increased chemical reaction and therefore draw a higher current which, in extreme situations, can cause the battery to overcharge and boil over. The low amperage model 926745 will help prevent this.

Note: Also fits H-D 36-84 when converting to 12 volts. When replacing the 65B generator (Hitachi 82-E84), add H-D oil deflector #31035-58 (MCS 555773). The same gear can be reused.
Technical tip: Generator polarisation.
With the engine off, earth the 'F' terminal and momentarily pulse the 'A' terminal with positive. Remove the earth from the 'F' terminal. If you have correctly installed a functional regulator, it will activate and earth the 'F' terminal, in which case you will not need to use an external earth.
Caution: Do not press the 'F' terminal. This will damage the regulator.
Do not connect the battery to the field (terminal F), as this will polarise the generator in reverse.
Generators in general do not forget their polarisation, so it is not necessary to polarise a Cycle Electric Inc. generator unless it has been connected to the battery the wrong way round or has been inadvertently polarised in reverse after leaving the factory. Only after a long period of time may generators have difficulty starting, and polarisation may be a good idea.
