444 series shock absorbers:
Includes FST (Frequency Sensing Technology) which dynamically adjusts damping according to road surface condition. Threaded top mount and hand-adjustable preload.
Note: The QPS (Quick Preload System) 704545 adjustment kit is optionally available. It replaces the stock top caps on all Touring 444 and 944 series shock absorbers, allowing quick preload adjustment without removing the panniers.
What are Progressive Suspension 'Heavy Duty' shocks?
If you are a light rider with a light passenger, the STD Duty series is probably your best option; Heavy Duty shocks will give a firmer ride. For large riders with a lot of luggage, Heavy Duty springs are the best option. Heavy Duty is not better, it is different.
The use of Heavy Duty shock absorbers or springs is recommended on motorcycles operated at or near the manufacturer's maximum load more than 50% of the time. In short: Standard is suitable for combined rider weights up to 250 lbs / 113 kg), Heavy-Duty (from 250 lbs / 113 kg to 350 lbs / 159 kg) and Super Duty (from 350 lbs / 159 kg upwards).
