S&S, 4-3/8" stroke flywheel assembly for years 06-17

For big bore 96/103/106. 110/117 engines with S&S pistons. S&S connecting rods do not have tapered wrist pin ends and are not compatible with stock H-D pistons or stock H-D pinion shaft bearings. Balanced to a total piston weight of 1035 grams.
Note: Engines with strokes over 4" may require S&S piston lubrication injectors and piston-to-injector clearance notches in the piston skirt to avoid contact.
Note: S&S crankshafts allow the use of replaceable bearing shells at the bottom end of the connecting rods. The first generation of S&S crankshafts, in use until 2012, had a diameter of 1.500". The second generation of crankshafts, in use since 2013, has the larger OEM diameter of 1.671". S&S and OEM crankshafts are now identical in diameter, so S&S parts can be used to rebuild stock H-D flywheels, which was previously not possible as H-D rebuild parts were not and are not available.
Note: The following applies to 03-17 models. S&S designed these flywheels to work with a Timken-style pinion shaft bearing; they fit 99-02 factory models and all S&S crankcases without modifications. Factory H-D Twin Cam engines from 03-17 use the same pinion shaft roller bearing as on the pinion shaft, a cheaper but weaker solution. It is possible to use the weaker factory 03-17 pinion shaft bearing kit (OEM H-D 24004-03B) with S&S flywheels in factory 03-17 crankcases. However, S&S believes this roller bearing will not withstand the side loads produced in a high-performance engine. S&S will not honour any warranty claim in an application where the roller-style pinion shaft bearing assembly 03-17 OEM 24004-03B/24605-07 is used. To upgrade to the pre-2003 pinion shaft bearing style, the MCS 978517 JIMS conversion tool kit is available. This kit includes one tool, one Timken bearing and one steel crankcase bearing insert for one engine. Bearing inserts are available separately as 978519, and bearings separately as 508960.
Note: In all applications, the technician must be able to judge the suitability of the components in combination with the other engine components before installation. It is important that a qualified mechanic carries out the installation and any necessary adjustments.
