The original H-D compensating slide/ramp for the engine sprocket has been a shock-absorbing system used on H-D models in various configurations for more than half a century. It cushions the shocks between the end of the engine sprocket shaft and the primary chain that drives the clutch/gearbox. Hard work indeed and, on the M8, it is the first thing to fail on the sprocket shaft. The S&S compensating ramp is a Heavy Duty direct-replacement upgrade for the standard ramp, offering greater reliability over more kilometres/miles. This improved version, compared to the standard finish of the S&S compensating ramp / slide, is micro-polished to a mirror finish, reducing friction where it matters most and keeping the drivetrain cleaner, cooler and quieter. The improved oil retention helps protect critical surfaces. Recommended for all M8 engines, from stock to any performance upgrade.
