Zodiac Bobber bike kit

Harley-style "Bobbers" predated Choppers and are the origin of the Custom world. When World War II pilots returned to the USA, they were a wild bunch needing some action. They began racing on roads that were far from ideal, simply craving the adrenaline. For this, they used heavy Flatheads and Knuckleheads. To go faster, they stripped them down to the essentials and shortened, or 'bobbed', the rear mudguard. The Bobber was born. Ton Pels, founder of Zodiac and also known as "The Godfather" of drag racing, began building his 21st-century Bobber when S&S introduced their full 93 CI Shovelhead-style engine. This engine features an "Old School" appearance but delivers impressive power and torque. As the engine was designed for a generator-based electrical system, the motorcycle could accommodate a high-capacity battery and thus a high-performance starter motor. Purists might argue that a true Bobber should be kick-started, but we can assure you that an electric start makes life much easier. The 21st-century Bobber combines Old School aesthetics with modern performance, reliability, and comfort. This is also why the bike features a 5-speed gearbox and hydraulic brakes. Ton began the build with a single constraint: all components had to be from Zodiac. This was no major issue, as Zodiac offers around 25,000 parts in its Harley accessory range. First, he selected a Wishbone-style rigid frame. He added a Zodiac Hydra-style fork, a Flat Side fuel tank, a 4 1/4" rear wheel with an Avon 180/60 x 16 tyre, a 5-speed TPD transmission, Zodiac steel mudguards, a sissy bar, and a Le Pera Solo seat. To ensure sufficient power for starting, an Odyssey battery was chosen. The build took only two days, as all parts were plug-and-play. By the end of the second day, it was merely a case of adding oil and fuel, and pressing the starter. S&S did an excellent job redesigning the rocker boxes and adapting the camshaft for a more Evolution-style tune, working well with a compression ratio of 10:1. What was intended to be a short test ride turned into an hour-long run on a completely unpainted motorcycle. When Ton returned to the workshop, his eyes were shining, and if we may say so, he had a slight smile, saying, "This is a motorcycle we will sell as a kit; it has everything to be a success. And when the boss says so, we do it. The Bobber kit is now available. And the good news for those who prefer an Evolution engine is that it is also possible. It comes with an S&S 96 CI engine.
